After the Harry Potter movie series ended, us fans begged J.K. Rowling for more. We just needed something else! Well, five years later, she answered our prayers and gave us Harry Potter and the Cursed Child the play.
For those of you who don’t know, this was a play based on a story written by the great J.K. Rowling along with Jack Thorne and John Tiffany and Jack Thorne made it into the play that it is today. A play that has, just like any of Harry Potter book, a lot of mystery, action, sorrow, love, lessons taught, and lessons learned. That’s what makes this series so special and why after so many years, J.K. Rowling decided to make another installment. We wanted more and we got it.
The book is in the form of a play which is different from what we’ve read from Harry Potter but still as amazing as all the other books! The play premiered only at the Palace Theatre, London on July 30, 2016 with Jamie Parker, Noma Dumezweni, and Paul Thornley playing our beloved Harry, Hermione and Ron, while the book was released the day after.
I’m not going to give away too many details but just when you think J.K. Rowling couldn’t come up with something else… she comes up with something else. This play is about Harry Potter’s son who is eleven and goes to Hogwarts (shocker) but doesn’t quite live up to Harry’s reputation. A little spoiler but unlike Harry, his son is sorted into Slytherin so you know shits going to get craaazyyyy.
So, of course, since a new Harry Potter book/play was released, it made a huge splash with it’s fans. Millions of people bought it and loved it, including me. But the only thing that bothered many people was that the play was only being held in London. If you couldn’t afford to go London and see it, well then you’re shit out of luck.
Well Harry Potter nerdz, fear no more because like I said above, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is coming to Lyric Theatre, New York on April 22, 2018!! Finally, I can go see it! The cast will be different than the cast of the London play which is upsetting but I’m just excited to actually see it because you know I’ll be going.
I’ve heard rumors for awhile about this play coming to the U.S. but never an actual announcement until now and I cannot tell you how excited I am and I hope you are too!
