As you all may have seen by now, Emma Watson, the woman who portrayed our beloved Hermione Granger in all eight of the Harry Potter films, was revealed in a scandalous picture for Vanity Fair. I, personally, loved it. Women should love their bodies no matter what and Watson, doing this photo shoot, showed that.

But not everyone is like me.

Some people believe that Watson shouldn’t have done this photo shoot because it goes against everything she stands for, meaning her being a feminist and she’s a little confused about it. Honestly, I would be too… She takes these photos to try to spice it up a little, excited to see the reactions of fans, only to see the backlash. It’s “riddikulus!”

Now, being the kind of woman that she is, Watson defended herself while interviewing with Reuters and said “Feminism is not a stick with which to beat other women with” which is a perfect way to put it. Why must the way a woman is dressed depict whether or not she can be a feminist? This is exactly the kind of things feminists are trying to stop.

There are so many issues that this situation relates to like men thinking it’s okay to attack women because of the way they’re dressed or people bashing women when they don’t dress the “appropriate way” and they’re issues that need to stop. Women AND men are allowed to dress any way that they want to and they shouldn’t have to worry about being judged or attacked.

The fact that Watson got so much backlash because she did a risqué photo shoot is appalling. She’s done SO much for women everywhere and for people, especially women, to hate on her for one photo shoot, that in fact should be empowering, is shameful.

Watson has every right to show off her bod! Although, no one has the right to bash you for how you dress or in this case, how you take photo shoots when you call yourself a feminist. Emma Watson, there are millions of people out there who support you, you go girl!

In the words of the great Emma Watson, “I really don’t know what my tits have to do with it.” PREACH.
